There are reports that Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe's announcement of an 'emergency' after the escape of President Gotabhaya Raja Pakse has put the series in jeopardy.

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has confirmed that the Test series between Pakistan and Sri Lanka will go according to plan. There are reports that the series is in jeopardy after Sri Lankan Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe declared a 'state of emergency' following the expulsion of President Gotabhaya Raja Pakse from the country.

PCB media director Samiul Hassan Burney told reporters that despite the imposition of emergency in Sri Lanka, the series between Pakistan and Sri Lanka would be on schedule. Sami Burney added that the Cricket Board is in constant touch with Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) while he is also discussing the situation with the Pakistan High Commissioner in Sri Lanka.The Pakistani squad is currently playing a three-day warm-up match in Colombo amid protests. According to a PCB spokesperson, the team will leave for Galle tomorrow at 11 am for the first Test starting July 16
